Who we should worship?
Who should we worship? Both Matthew 4 & Luke 4 tell this story...I’m sure you know the scene. The Spirit leads Jesus into a desert to be tempted by the devil. Luke 4-5-8(NIV) 5. The devil led him up to a high place and showed him in an instant all the kingdoms of the world. 6. And he said to him, "I will give you all their authority and splendor, for it has been given to me, and I can give it to anyone I want to. 7. So if you worship me, it will all be yours." 8. Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Worship the Lord your God and serve him only.' And from the Book of Revelation we find this awesome scene: Revelation 14:7 Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters. The apostle John in this next scene is being shown heaven by an angel and John is so over whelmed that he falls to worship the angel. But the angel does not receive the worship. The angel instructs John to worship God. Revelation 19:10 At this I fell at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, "Do not do it! I am a fellow servant with you and with your brothers who hold to the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy." It is clear that we should only worship God...RIGHT? So what is this all about? Thomas worships Jesus, and Jesus says, “thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.” John 20:26 - 29 And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you. 27 Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing. 28 And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God. 29 Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed. Now compare the response of Jesus to that of Barnabas and Paul when a crowd from Lystra think they are gods, and want to worship them. Acts 14:8-15 In Lystra there sat a man crippled in his feet, who was lame from birth and had never walked. 9 He listened to Paul as he was speaking. Paul looked directly at him, saw that he had faith to be healed 10 and called out, "Stand up on your feet!" At that, the man jumped up and began to walk. 11 When the crowd saw what Paul had done, they shouted in the Lycaonian language, "The gods have come down to us in human form!" 12 Barnabas they called Zeus, and Paul they called Hermes because he was the chief speaker. 13 The priest of Zeus, whose temple was just outside the city, brought bulls and wreaths to the city gates because he and the crowd wanted to offer sacrifices to them. 14 But when the apostles Barnabas and Paul heard of this, they tore their clothes and rushed out into the crowd, shouting: 15 "Men, why are you doing this? We too are only men, human like you. We are bringing you good news, telling you to turn from these worthless things to the living God, who made heaven and earth and sea and everything in them. (Barnabas and Paul did not allow the people to believe that they are Gods, and they do not receive worship. They tore their clothes and rushed out into the crowd, shouting. But when worshiped by Thomas, Jesus said, “blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.”) Here Herod does receive worship...woops: Acts 12:21-23 On the appointed day Herod, wearing his royal robes, sat on his throne and delivered a public address to the people. 22 They shouted, "This is the voice of a god, not of a man." 23 Immediately, because Herod did not give praise to God, an angel of the Lord struck him down, and he was eaten by worms and died. (The lesson here is, if you are going to receive worship, you better be God.) Isn't that good to understand?

Contributor's Note
I enjoy studying the Bible. It is so rich with truth and understanding. We can be spiritual and practical also. A home based business can replace the income of most 40 hour a week jobs...if you have the right one. Would you want to EARN $1,618.50 EVERY MONTH WITHOUT ENROLLING even one CUSTOMER? Or with some part time work you can earn over $10,000 a month.
